#94

along the route
a fenced off lot
where a house once stood
one day another
but for now
stands of sunflowers
on a cloudy day

Now, in book form!

Copies of 'Ride the Red Thread' available soon at Tix on The Square, Audreys Books and The Artworks...

skytrain/99 B line

a crush of umbrellas
and respite from the rain
onto a crowded bus with a defunct compass ticket
the driver too kind (busy?) to bust me
a long long way down Broadway
muggy steamy windows
a little girl having none of it
or maybe too much of it
barely hanging in there
from one end of the city (Waterfront)
to the other (UBC)
and all express points in-between
transiting the Couv

some Thursdays...

while you wait for the bus
you are serenaded by pipping birds
in the tall cedars along your path

while you wait
(and shiver a bit)
you marvel at how pretty everything is
white white white
on a clear blue sky morning

you see another rider down the street
making her way to her stop
and you remind yourself that the bus is coming
anytime now

and while you wait
you are thankful for this meditation
a little time out
on a quiet day early in the New Year

and just when you begin to fret a bit
and wonder 'did i miss the bus?'
you see it up the avenue
careening down the totally wrong street
blowing past the stop with the fellow (would be traveler)
a route all its own

you wonder and weigh your options
should you walk up to another stop?
take another bus?
but you wait just a bit longer
until it reroutes
and comes to pick you up several minutes later

'sorry!' says the driver
but no apologies needed
no biggie
'you got here in the end'

fare goings

for now free transit for everyone stay safe riders
